Fashion thoughts

Just back after three days “vacation” in the capital of Scandinavia/Sweden – Stockholm. What a beautiful city, the nature and architecture is grand.

It is amazing how a city can be so coherent with the culture it represents. It became very evident to me this time visiting.

Swedes do not want to stand out. In any way (I would then be the execption of that rule). This is very aparent in Stockholm.

Everybody looks the same. At the moment all girls have long hair (not necessarily blond), wear shorts (jeans foremost), oversized tank-top and jacket. If you wear glasses, it should be something your sister or mother wore in the 80’s. A little bigger, colourful and not necessary making you look better. No one want to be caught with the same ones as anyone else. Then it is better to get a pair that doesn’t suit you very well.

All this  to only to make the statement that you have read the “right” fashion blogs and knows what’s hot. My interpretation is on a different level and goes something like “Hey, I do not know who I am so I’d better not stand out. What if someone actually would want to get to know ME?!” I do think that everybody that wears this (or anything else as a matter of fact) believe they look good. It is just the mass thing of it all and that you don’t try something else, outside the box, I do not mean that you need to go goth (unless you want).

The fun thing is that on the country side it is the same fashion that makes you stand out. However, the message is still the same.

I guess it is all very human, but still I find it unfortunate that we are not more tolerant than that.
