If they only new

I have just started my summer holiday. Since I live in Sweden I have the right to take 4 weeks of consecutive vacation and then at least another week.

I don’t, I only take three + another week. A week that I have  already worked but not gotten paid for, to put it simple.

Anyway, just before ending my day’s work I got a crazy notion that I could leave the laptop on to see what mails might come in.

WHATEVER got me to this diluted thought?

The answers is as sweet as it is simple. I have the best manager. I actually have two (because I am special…) and they are both good. But the one I report to in my daily work is just fab. She has the best (according to me) leaderships skills. Knows when to support, when to push that little extra and when to butt off.

Good leaders are rare. Really rare.

The thing that puzzles me is why it is so hard for SO many people to be good managers. It is so freaking easy. Make your employee feel competent, important and be flexible, but still demand deliverables.

If it doesn’t work be clearer, demand the employee to be clearer with what he/she needs.

No, I know it is not that easy, since people are different and have easier or harder to tell what other people need. But really, should these people then be managers. Don’t think so!
