Physical & mental movement

We hear it almost daily, that our kids (and many adults) don’t get enough exercise on a daily basis leading to all sort of negative things.

Many times before, I have proudly told you (yes, bragged), what an outstanding person I am, who not only exercise regularly but I do it so very early in the mornings (as this would be better than doing it in the afternoon or evenings….) . Today, was one of those mornings. Leaving our not trendy gym, “Healthy & Sweaty“, it struck me how important these establishments are. Especially the ones that offer any typer of group trainings. Not only do they offer the physical exercise they create a sense of belonging. Just the “Have a great week!” when leaving being answered “You to!” does something with you and I don’t see myself as a lonely person.

In a time with mental illness sky rockting, and 1/8 people suffer from mental health issues these establishment could be a contribution to the solution.

I was reflecting on it as well yesterday, as I was watching Fabians’s football game. How fantastic this sport has been for him. Despite the obvious love for the sport (which I can’t relate to at all) it creates relations, brings a sense of belonging and shared experiences. What a gift. And seeing the happiness on his face, brings joy to an old mother.
