The greatness of parenting

A colleague once said that parenting seemed so boring. Nedless to say, my colleauge had no children.

Returned after from 3 days of Legoland and watersplashing at Lalandia in Billund, Denmark, I know for a fact, there is much parenting is, but boring is not one of them.

To see your 7.5 year old hitting the waves (and yes, real waves from a wave machine) not 100% secure with his swimming yet, but still not giving up – is not boring, it is pride. To see your picky 5 year old not complaining about the mushrooms on his pizza, instead just picking them off is not boring – is happiness. And observing two siblings running together and eagerly commenting the new Star Wars Lego exhibition is nothing but joy – pure joy.

Parenting can be frustrating, tiresome, heart-aching, pride, joyful, self development, pure happiness and much much more, but nerver ever boring. It also reminds me that parenting (as anything else) can  not be judged by observation only by experinece.

I think I just had the best Mother’s day ever. I thank Sam and Fabian for that.
