So, the circle is closed and all back to normal. I love normal.
Me and the Mr had our child free week-end, while the kiddos where off to grandparent retreat.
We don’t do it very often. We don’t want to do it very often. But we do it a couple of times each a year. We either do it like this time, by staying at home. Sometimes we go off to a bigger city, with food, entertainment and a night at a hotel. We actually already have two of these planned for late summer/fall.
I think it is good. For you as a couple and for you as a parent and not the least for the children. To take these micro pauses from parenting.
But, if needed to prioritise, I will always primarily be “Louise – the mother”. My children will always come first. To be there for them. It does mean doing things that you normally wouldn’t feel like the most fun thing to do. But it doesn’t mean, do all they ask me to do (no, I am way to lazy for that kind of parenting) nor that I won’t let her take breaks, like this weekend.
Yesterday, when Mr and I enjoyed a choritzo appetizer and a cold beer on the terrace waiting for the BBQ to get ready, it was clear that spring had arrived with yet some more warm air.
